SEPTA Pass Customer FAQs

What is Pass Perks?
Pass Perks is a special program designed to reward SEPTA TransPass and TrailPass customers with discounts to a wide variety of establishments throughout Greater Philadelphia. In order to redeem a Perk, all you need is to show your pass at the time of the transaction.

Why do I need a pass to receive the perks?
SEPTA wants to reward its customers who express their loyalty by making a commitment through their purchase of passes.

I use tokens because they are cheaper than a pass. Am I eligible to receive the perks too?
While it is true that for some, traveling on a SEPTA token may be less expensive than using a pass, the Pass Perk discounts available with a pass may result in savings greater than with a token.

I use tickets to ride the train because I don't ride every workday. Can I benefit from the program?
The program rewards our loyal riders who purchase passes. Depending on the frequency of your train trips, using a pass and the benefits you'll receive through the Pass Perks Program may, in combination, be a better deal than tickets alone.

Can I use my Cross-County or Intermediate pass for Pass Perks benefits?
Yes. You can use your Cross-County or Intermediate pass.

Can I use an expired pass to redeem a Perk? No. Only currently valid passes are eligible.

Do I need to provide any personal information to redeem a Perk?
No. To receive a discount you just show your pass.

Do I ever surrender my pass to receive a Perk?
Absolutely not. You must only present it at the time of the transaction.

What should I do if an establishment refuses to offer their perk to me?
Ask to speak to the manager. It may just be that the information hasn't worked its way through to all employees. If you still don't get results, let us know and we will follow up.

Will perks change?
New perks will appear on a regular basis and current perks may be changed to accommodate specific events and specials. So, visit the Pass Perks web site frequently or register with us to receive updates automatically.

Can perks be discontinued without notice?
Although the discount offered by a particular establishment may change from time to time, each participating establishment makes a commitment for one year to be part of the Pass Perks Program.

I don't see my favorite store/service/entertainment/hot spot listed.
Our goal is to enlist as many establishments as possible into the program. Ask the manager to visit our web site. He or she can join the program by clicking on the Submit A Perk tab at the top right of the home page. Then, visit us often to make sure that they're in the program.

How much does it cost to participate in the SEPTA Pass Perks Program?
There is no cost to becoming a Pass Perks Partner.

What is required for my business to become a Pass Perk Partner?
Your business must be a consumer-oriented business. You must agree to extend a discount or other offer to customers who present a SEPTA weekly or monthly pass or employee ID. The offer must be honored for one year. You will be asked to sign a contract to that effect.

I don't have a website / company email. Can I still participate?
Yes, you can.

How can this program help my business?
The Pass Perks Program will be promoted through the region to SEPTA riders and non-riders. Millions will be encouraged to visit the web site where they may be introduced to your business. This is your opportunity to welcome them as new customers.

Can I change my perk?
Yes. Just click the Submit A Perk tab on the upper right of the Pass Perks home page. Complete the required fields and then fill in the new information in the box labeled xxx. This new information will be reviewed before going live on the site so expect some delay before visitors to the site will know about your change.

How long should my description be on the Pass Perks web site?
Generally, the description of your company and your offer should be complete but not lengthy. Provide the reader with enough information so that they will know how to take advantage of your offer.

If I offer benefits to transit riders, are there any tax advantages for cost of discounts?
No. Generally, the only tax advantages involved in public transit are those related to the employer purchase of fare instruments for their employees. These purchases are eligible to be made using pre-tax dollars, saving employers 7% in payroll taxes and saving employees up to 35% in personal taxes.
